I took advantage of the (long-awaited) dry weather to create a DIY backyard obstacle course for my son. He was practically climbing the walls during the long stretches of rain and he was so happy to get outside and move his body. You can find everything you need for your own DIY backyard obstacle course at Walmart.
To make your own backyard obstacle course, you will need:
- Ride on toy, bike, or trike
- Small Balls
- Sidewalk Chalk
- Jump rope
- Goldfish® Crackers
Start with a ride across one end of your backyard with the ride on toy.
Create a “starting line” with the chalk for your child to stand behind. Have them throw the balls into the bucket from the starting line.
After the ball toss, use the chalk to make a hopscotch court. We had fun creating patterns in each square.
After the hopscotch, create a tight rope walk with the sidewalk chalk. Invite your child to decide how they should cross it!
Lastly, tie your jump rope to two objects to create a limbo station. See how low you can go!
End your backyard obstacle course with a fun snack. We choose Goldfish Crackers because they are a smart solution for snack time. The Snack That Smiles Back®.
I grew up eating them and love that my son loves them, too. Goldfish crackers offer great varieties including whole grain and colors sourced from plants.
Look mom, my favorite color! (orange)
