Finding My Motivation
I have been MIA for the last couple of weeks. I started losing motivation in blogging and decided I needed to give myself a break. I just felt too exhausted to do anything but sleep or veg out on the couch during nap time. Since I’m a stay at home mom to two little tykes, that’s about all of the time I have to dedicate to my blog at this point.
For the last few months, I have been striving to post 3-4 times per week. I have loved coming up with creative recipes, creating free printables, and sharing insights into my family life. Things just all of a sudden shifted a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was because I overdid it on Soup Week. Posting 7 days in a row was HARD.
Blogging isn’t writing a post – there is so much more that goes into it. I have to write the post, take photos, edit photos, edit the writing, and then promote it on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest. I think I spend about half my time working on my posts and the other half promoting them – which means I was working on my blog during every single nap time. I really needed a break!
So I took a break. During this time, I also started cutting back on my caffeine intake and actually ended up cutting out my morning cup of coffee all together. Until today. I heard my husband making himself coffee and I asked that he please make me some, too. I took one sip and BAM! That’s all I needed to think about writing again!
Now I’m starting to wonder if my loss of motivation was not caused by my overambitious soup week, but by my lack of caffeine. What was I thinking giving up coffee? Never again! I love blogging and really don’t want to miss out on connecting with my readers for weeks on end because I’m too tired. That’s just not going to work for me.
So, I’m back. I don’t think I’ll be posting 3-4 days per week. 2 days per week is more realistic at this point, but we will see what happens.
Do you ever loose motivation? What do you do to get back on track?
