Oatmeal is easy enough to make on the stove, but I like making it in my Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cooker because there is little hands-on time. I just stick all of the ingredients in the pot and let it do it’s thing. I love that I don’t have to babysit a pot on the stove or stir constantly.

Cooking Times for Oatmeal in the Instant Pot

This recipes for blueberry oatmeal requires natural pressure release. So, the cook time is only 3 minutes, but coming to pressure and naturally releasing pressure brings it up to about 30 minutes. That’s just something you will want to keep in mind when planning your morning.

Types of Oats for Pressure Cooker Oatmeal

This recipe calls for steel cut oats. You may also substitute rolled oats for the steel cut oats. Just stay away from quick cooking oats. You are better off cooking those on the stove as they will turn to mush in your instant pot.

I made this today and it came out perfect. Anyone getting the burn error isn’t checking tje rubber seal on the inside of the lid. If that seal is the slightest bit out of place, steam will escape the instant pot which will cause your oats to burn. User error, nothing wrong with this recipe.

I’ll definitely be making this again. Thank you!

  3. Tried this recipe and got the BURN message as soon as pressure was reached. Released pressure and now I have a blueberry milk explosion all over my kitchen. THANKS BUT NO THANKS!!!

    1. Amber, I am so sorry this happened to you! You are actually the second person to bring this problem to my attention. We are no longer recommending milk in this recipe and have updated it for your reference.
