See how easy it is to make your own glitter ornaments at home with this easy tutorial!
I had so much fun making glitter ornaments with my kids! It’s the first Christmas craft we have done this year and they loved it so much!
Making Glitter Ornaments with kids
Since I made these diy glitter ornaments with my kids, I chose to use plastic ornaments over glass. Ultimately, they ended up being the better choice anyway because we were able to evenly distribute the Mod Podge inside the ornament before adding the glitter. With glass ornaments, it is much more difficult.
How to DIY glitter ornaments
- Start by opening the two halves of your plastic ornament.
- Using a small bristled paint brush or foam brush, paint an even layer of Mod Podge over the inside of both halves.
- Sprinkle glitter inside one half of the ornament.
- Close the ornament and shake to distribute the glitter. Add more glitter, if needed.
- Close the ornament and let it sit to dry overnight.
- You can also decorate the outside with washi tape, buttons, or even ribbon.
How to make a Frozen Inspired Glitter Ornament
- I made a Frozen inspired ornament by making my glitter ornament with blue glitter.
- Next, I applied snowflake ribbon to the outside of the ornament using Mod Podge.
- Lastly, I cut out individual snowflakes from the snowflake ribbon and attached those using Mod Podge as well.
- I set it sitting on top of a cup to dry overnight and then hung it on my tree.
