Welcome to Aileen Cooks! This is my VERY FIRST blog post!
I am in the kitchen every day, usually several times a day. I have a family to feed and my goal is to make as many wholesome meals at home as possible. That way, we can avoid highly processed foods and the high costs of eating out. Another benefit of eating at home is the family table. When we make a meal at home, the whole family sits down at the table to enjoy the meal – without distraction. That means NO screens (with the exception of our pizza-picnic-movie nights) and real conversation.
Now, my kids are little (William is almost 3 and Katie is 1), so our meal time conversations almost always include one or both of them screaming, food landing on the floor, and some type of silly behavior. But, it also gives my husband and I time to catch up (when he’s home) and to hear all about what William is thinking. He has A LOT to say these days.
Here is a sneak peek in to our Sunday dinner – meatloaf, mashed potatoes, honey roasted carrots, and salad (from our garden!).
