Crispy Asparagus Recipe

This crispy asparagus is an easy and delicious side dish you can make any day of the week! It's a roasted asparagus with parmesan that comes out crispy and never mushy.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound asparagus
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese grated

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a cookie sheet with foil. Wash and trim the ends of the asparagus.
  • Arrange asparagus on the cookie sheet in a single layer and drizzle with olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Roast asparagus for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Set oven to broil and place asparagus back in the oven for 1 minute, until cheese is golden brown. Remove asparagus from the oven and serve immediately.

Notes

Choose fresh asparagus: Look for firm, bright green stalks with closed, compact tips. Avoid any that appear wilted or have a strong odor.
Trim the ends: Asparagus has a tough woody end that should be removed before cooking. Hold a stalk of asparagus near the bottom and bend it until it snaps. Discard the tough end and use the snapped piece as a guide to trim the remaining stalks.
Wash and dry: Rinse the asparagus under cold water to remove any dirt or sand. Pat them dry with a kitchen towel to ensure proper cooking.
Cooking times vary: Depending on the thickness of your asparagus, it may cook faster or slower. Keep an eye on your asparagus and pull it out of the oven just as soon as they become tender and slightly crispy. You do not want overcooked asparagus.
Don't crowd the pan: Keep the asparagus spaced out on the cooking sheet. Avoid overcrowding as that can prevent the vegetable from crisping up.
