One Pot Sausage Pasta Recipe

You are going to love this one-pot pasta recipe. Not only does it only dirty one pot, but it is a 30 minute meal, making it the perfect quick weeknight meal with minimal clean up! It's packed with flavorful sausage, fresh basil, and a tasty tomato sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Mazola Corn Oil
  • 1 pound turkey Italian sausage casing removed
  • 1/2 medium yellow onion chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 pound whole wheat penne pasta
  • 1 15-ounce can diced tomatoes
  • 1 6-ounce can tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil roughly chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Grated parmesan cheese for topping

Instructions

  • Heat corn oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.

  • Mix in sausage and onion.

  • Cook until sausge is browned, braking it up into chunks as it cooks, about 5 minutes.
  • Mix in garlic and cook until fragrant. About 1 minute.
  • Pour in chicken broth, pasta diced tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.

  • Raise heat to high. Mix until tomato paste is evenly distributed.
  • Once broth is boiling, reduce heat to medium.

  • Let simmer, stirring constanty, until pasta is al dente and liquid is almost absorbed. 10-12 minutes.

  • Remove from heat and serve.

Notes

Leftover pasta can be stored in the refrigerator, up to 3 days.
