Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the carrot, onion, and celery. Stir fry the vegetables until they begin to soften, about 3 minutes.
Add the ground beef, minced garlic, salt, and pepper to the pan and cook until the meat is browned. Drain the fat.
In a small bowl, whisk together the tomato paste, water, Worcestershire sauce, and BBQ sauce.
Pour the sauce into the ground beef mixture and bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
Reduce heat and cover, stirring occasionally. Cook until most of the sauce has been absorbed, about 10 minutes.
Server warm with hamburger buns.
