We love a good side dish! They can make a meal feel extra special and make a main dish feed more people. Plus, side dishes are just so good! We love both vegetable sides, starchy sides, and heartier sides like baked beans and cornbread in our instant pot. It all turns out great!

Side dishes are also a great way to start learning how to use your instant pot. If you are nervous about ruining dinner, start out with making side dishes. That way, if something does go wrong, you will still have a main dish ready to serve.

I have had my share of fails, but using an instant pot is really not hard once you get the hang of it. Eventually, you might be able to throw dinner together without even looking at a recipe!

Which Instant Pot should I purchase?

We have three of the Instant Pot Duo line. It has all of the features we like and works great! We recommend the 8 quart for a family of 5 or more (or if you like to make large cuts of meat and entertain often). The 6 quart is great for a smaller family or couple. I don’t recommend purchasing the mini as your primary pressure cooker, but it is great as a second pot for side dishes and desserts!
