A fun Christmas Train experience by River Fox Train

This train is a 1.5 hour evening train ride that’s perfect for getting into the holiday spirit. If you are looking for a Christmas train ride that is geared toward adults or one that you can enjoy with your family along with an adult beverage – this train ride is for you.

You can choose from Happy Hour Class or First Class tickets on the train.

My family and I were lucky enough to check out River Fox Train’s newest excursion and (spoiler alert) it was lots of fun! We opted for First Class Tickets.

Holiday Decorations on the Train

While waiting in line to check in, we got to admire all of the festive decorations throughout the train cars and even got to meet Santa! Every train car was decorated in a different theme.

Our train car was Nutcracker themed. It was a perfect fit since both of my girls performed in the local Nutcracker in our town this year.

All of the train cars were tastefully decorated. They were fun to look at and also made great photo ops!

Snacks and Drinks

Once seated, we enjoyed a charcuterie board full of snacks and some yummy drinks. My kids had hot chocolate and I had an Irish Cream Hot Chocolate. Both were delicious. The classic hot chocolates came in souvenir cups that you can keep.

Two charcuterie boards lined up next to each other.

For dessert, we enjoyed chocolate chips cookies. They also offered an egg nog pudding, which was tasty. There were lots of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage choices along with several snack options.

Activities for Kids

Once we got seated and served, my kids got to work on their Christmas lists for Santa and coloring pages (all provided by the train). It was so fun to think about writing your Christmas list and handing it directly to the big guy!

While waiting for our meet and great with Santa, we got to enjoy some in-train entertainment.

On-board Music

Some of Santa’s elves visited our train to sing Christmas Carols. This was my favorite part of the experience. Everyone in the train car was singing along. Everyone!

The elves were so engaging and got everyone joining in – laughing and singing. They even took a request from my sweet 8 year old who really wanted to hear jingle bells.

Once the musical elves left, it was our turn to see Santa.

It’s Santa! I Know Him!

We had already briefly met him while in line, so my kids didn’t need much time to warm up to him.

Santa spent a good amount of time with every group on the train (adults and kids). He even read every single Christmas list and chatted with the kids about what they wanted for Christmas.

The Holiday Spirit Express was a lot of fun and I am so glad I got to experience it with my family!

If you’re looking for a fun train ride excursion, I highly recommend River Fox Train in West Sacrament.

They offer different experiences year-round, including a Halloween Train & Pumpkin Patch (pumpkin patch express review), Boba Tea Train (that’s next on my list!), Beer Train, and so much more! River Fox Train also offers a rail bike experience, which looks really cool.
