What is a Moscow Mule?

A Moscow mule is a vodka-based cocktail that contains lime and a ginger-based beverage.

Many Moscow mules contain ginger beer. My particular recipe uses ginger ale and also, cranberry vodka – which makes it the perfect Christmas beverage!

What Does a Christmas Moscow Mule taste like?

Get your taste buds ready! My Christmas Moscow Mule is full of fizz and flavor! It’s a strong cocktail and owes its unique flavor profile to cranberry vodka and lime slices.

The best part? It also boasts a sweet component since I use ginger ale in lieu of ginger beer.

Is Ginger Beer the Same as Ginger Ale?

While they may seem similar, ginger beer has a much stronger ginger taste, whereas ginger ale is fizzy and sweet. Traditionally, ginger beer was brewed as an alcoholic beverage, but modern-time ginger beer is non-alcoholic.

What Food Pairs Well With Moscow Mules?

I love to go the savory route when it comes to Moscow mule food pairings.

I love serving mine with the following appetizers:

Homemade Air Fryer Rangoon

Outback Grilled Shrimp on the Barbie Recipe

Homemade Air Fryer Potato Skins

A Classic Charcuterie Board

Do I Have to Serve my Moscow Mules in Copper Cups?

Not necessarily! Lots of photos that you see online may feature Moscow mules in copper cups, (mainly because they retain temperatures well), keeping your Moscow mule nice and chilled.

However, if you don’t have copper cups on-hand, don’t stress! There’s enough to worry about during the holiday season, and my Christmas Moscow Mule serves perfectly well in traditional cocktail glasses.
