How do you store decorated sugar cookies?

Sugar cookies can be stored in an air-tight container at room temperature for up to 3-days. If you want to store them long-term, decorated sugar cookies can be frozen up to 3 months.

To freeze, place cooled cookies on a cookie sheet and freeze 1 hour. Place frozen cookies in an air-tight container and place back in the freezer. To defrost, remove cookies from freezer and let come to room temperature for about 2 hours.

Can you decorate sugar cookies with cake frosting?

If you want to skip making your own frosting, you can use cake frosting. This is a great activity to do with multiple kids. Just get a couple of different colors of cake frosting and let them frost the cooled sugar cookies with a butter knife.
