Getting healthy after baby can be a challenge. Your body doesn’t feel the same and it can be difficult to find motivation with a little one along for the ride. I had my third baby a few months ago and am finally starting to feel up to focusing on myself again.

Here is how I am getting healthy after baby:

Exercise Regularly

Exercise can mean different things to different people. The important thing is getting out and moving your body. After my first and second babies, this meant going for walks. I strapped them on in the Ergo or pushed them in the stroller. This time, exercise means going to my local gym 2-3 times per week. I do a combination of group exercise classes and the Couch 2 5K app on my phone.

The best advise I can give about getting exercise is to plan it into your day. If you don’t plan for it, it probably wont happen. You can write it on your calendar or set a reminder on your phone. Just make it happen. You will feel so much better.

Eat Healthy Snacks

Remembering to pack healthy snacks with me each day prevent me from getting “hangry” while out at play dates and running errands. I also make sure I have a healthy snack with me after each workout, because I can guarantee I’ll be hungry. Not only does packing snacks help prevent grumpiness, it stops me from making bad decisions like hitting the drive through.

One of the healthy snacks I recently discovered are VitaTops™ Muffin Tops. These muffin tops are 100-150 calories, low fat, high fiber and made with clean and simple ingredients. They come in tasty flavors like double chocolate chip, making them a nice option for a sweet treat. Which is perfect for me, because I crave a sweet treat every day. It’s nice to have an option I don’t have to feel guilty about.

Get Enough Sleep

It can be very tempting to stay up late or get up way before your kids get up to get some time to yourself. This is something I advocate (to an extent) when you are getting enough sleep at night. But when you have a little baby waking up in the middle of the night for milk or a cuddle, sleep needs to be your priority.

For me, this means I go to bed when my kids go to bed. I put the baby to sleep and stay in bed. I allow myself a little bit of TV, and then I close my eyes and go to sleep. Sometimes it’s not even 9 PM. This may seem way to early, but it works for me. I know I need my sleep. We all have a better day if I am well rested.

Healthy Meals

Eating healthy meals (just like healthy snacks) makes me feel better and gives me sustainable energy for the day. My go-to meal plan is this smoothie and some type of salad for lunch, most days of the week.

Drink Water

Lots and lots of water! Fill a water bottle up and refill it multiple times each day. Keep it with you so you remember to drink, drink, drink!

These are my top tips for getting healthy after baby. Thank you to our sponsor, VitaTops for making this post possible. Please check out their website and grab a high value coupon. You can find VitaTops at your local Publix, Kroger, Stop & Shop, Shop-Rite, or Target locations.

Congrats on your new little one. Walking is the best. Mine is old enough to hike with me now. These are great healthy snacks & tips for anyone in general besides new moms. Hope you get a chance to stop by soon. Keep up the good work.
