❤️Why You’ll Love This Recipe

This tea is equal parts refreshing and delicious.

The homemade peach syrup will take your iced tea to the next level. The best part is, you can make a double batch of syrup and save the extra to use in the future. Just store it in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it.

I love a refreshing iced tea – especially in the warm summer months! This peach iced tea takes it to the next level by using fresh peaches to create a delicious syrup. I love, love, love cooking with peaches around this time of year.

I buy peaches by the box load as soon as they are available. My kids and I will eat at least 1 a day (each) and then we love turning them into things like air fryer peach hand piesinstant pot iced tea, homemade peach cobbler, and instant pot Peach Jam.

📋Ingredients

Four peaches on a white counter top next to a stack of tea bags and a bowl of sugar.

To make peach iced tea, you will need the following ingredients:

Peaches: Look for freestone peaches, if possible. They will be easier to separate the fruit from the pit.

Granulated Sugar: See note on sugar below.

Black Tea Bags: Choose family-sized black iced tea bags for this recipe. Avoid the flavored teas as they may clash with the peach flavor. If using regular sized tea bags, use 6 instead of 3.

📖 Ingredient Swaps

Sugar Substitutes: You can substitute the sugar for something like Splenda or another artificial sweetener. Keep in mind that the sweetness level of these products varies, so you should taste as you go.

Also keep in mind that the peach syrup you are creating will be sweeter than the actual tea as you will be mixing it with brewed tea and water. It may take a little trial and error to figure out the level of sweetness you want with sugar substitutes.

🔪Step-by-Step Instructions

Cooked peaches in sugar water in a stock pot with a ladle sticking out.
Step 2: Bring to a soft boil, cover, and cook for 20-30 minutes.
A glass measuring cup fitted with a strainer of cooked peaches and peach syrup.
Step 3: Once the peaches are soft and falling apart, strain them using a fine mesh sieve over a mixing bowl. The juice in the bottom of the bowl is your peach syrup. Discard leftover peaches or save them for another recipe.
Three tea bags in a pot of boiling water.
Step 4: Bring 3 cups water to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, remove from heat and add 3 family-sized tea bags. Cover and let steep for 12 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags.
A glass of iced tea with sliced peaches and a blue striped straw.
Step 5: Mix the tea and peach syrup in a gallon sized iced tea pitcher. Mix in water, 1 cup at a time, until you reach the desired sweetness. You will want to taste-test the tea after each cup of water. Once you have the sweetness you want, place the pitcher of iced peach tea in the refrigerator to chill overnight. Serve over ice and enjoy!

👩🏻‍🍳Expert Cooking Tips

Pick the perfect peach

The key to a truly delicious peach tea is in the peaches. Look for ripe peaches that are just slightly squishy without being mushy.

Avoid peaches with blisters or cuts in the skin. If the peaches available in your area are hard and underripe, store them a paper bag for 1 day to speed up the ripening process.

Taste as you go

Be sure to taste as you go. The beauty of homemade iced tea is the control you have to make it just as sweet as you like. Take small sips after each addition of water until it’s just right.
