With just a few minutes of prep, you can have warm, flakey, and sweet homemade pop tarts ready for breakfast!

How to make air fryer pop tarts?

  1. Start by cutting up two sheets of pre-made pie crust into 3-inch rectangles. Pie crust cut into 3-inch triangles.
  2. Fill half of the rectangles with a teaspoon of jelly. Dough filled with grape jelly.
  3. Top the jelly filled pie crusts with the remaining crusts. 
  4. Press the edges together with the tines of a fork. Homemade pop tarts pressed together with the tines of a fork.
  5. Brush an egg wash over each pop tart. Pop tarts on an air fryer tray.
  6. Air fry pop tarts for 5-8 minutes at 375ºF until they turn golden brown around the edges. (be careful, they burn easily)
  7. Remove pop tarts from air fryer and spread vanilla icing and sprinkles on top. Iced pop tarts on a cooling rack.
  8. Serve and enjoy!

Do I need to work in batches?

Yes, you will likely need to work in batches. If you are cooking in an air fryer oven, then you may be able to air fry the whole batch of pop tarts in one batch. Pop tarts should be spaced out in the air fryer to ensure they cook evenly.

How to store homemade pop tarts?

Homemade air fried pop tarts can be stored in an air-tight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Can I use a frozen pie crust?

Yes, but you will want to defrost the pie crust to room temperature before using it.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 pre-made pie crusts
  • 1 cup grape or strawberry jelly
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 cup vanilla icing
  • 1/4 cup rainbow sprinkles

Instructions
 

  • Preheat air fryer to 375°F.
  • Roll out the pie crusts and cut out 3 inch rectangles. Divide the rectangles in half.
  • Place a teaspoon of jelly in the center of half of the rectangles.
  • Place the remaining rectangles on top of the jelly filled ones.
  • Press the edges together with the tines of a fork.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to make an egg wash.
  • Brush the egg wash over the top of each pop tart.
  • Place pop tarts inside air fryer, spaced apart. (you may need to work in batches)
  • Air fry for 5-8 minutes, just until they start to get golden brown around the edges. Make sure to check them often as they can burn quickly.
  • Remove pop tarts from air fryer and immediatley spread icing on top.
  • Top with sprinkles.
  • Serve and enjoy!
