How to Make Rice Cake Edible Ornaments

If you are looking for a festive way to upgrade a boring snack for the holidays, try these rice cake Christmas ornaments! This is one of those kid-friendly recipes that everyone in the family can make together. Try setting up a “baking” station for this no-bake treat and let everyone decorate their very own Christmas ornament to eat. Here’s how to make this Christmas snack!

You may also want to try these delicious Christmas treats like Christmas Cake Mix Cookies, Christmas Puppy Chow, and Christmas Rice Krispies Treat Reindeer. They are all kid-friendly and easy to make in big batches if you need a large number for a classroom party or family get-together.

I hope you give this idea a try! There are so many ways that you can personalize this recipe with your own favorite flavors. Try making spirals, stripes, or carefully place M&Ms all over for a full rice cake of chocolate candy. Little chefs love to get creative with this idea, and it can be kid-friendly if you use soft sprinkles as opposed to the hard candy sprinkles shown in the bottom right (the holly and red dots).

You could even consider wrapping these very carefully in cellophane and tie it with a ribbon for a holiday treat to save for later. Wax paper may be a good option as well to wrap it in to keep the design. Alternatively, you could make a gift basket of all the ingredients and print out this recipe for a cute surprise for friends, neighbors, or even teachers.

Rice Cake Ornaments Ingredients Including Sprinkles, Candy, and Rice Cakes

You will need whipped cream cheese, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, an assortment of sprinkles, candies, and frosting, and the star of the show, rice cakes!

How to Make Rice Cake Edible Ornaments

To get started, cover a rice cake with cream cheese. This makes a clean white surface for decorating.

How to Make Rice Cake Ornaments: Ingredients

Use a variety of sprinkles, candies, and colored frosting to make ornament decor. I used green cookie icing in a tube (easy for frosting!), holiday colored M&Ms, and sprinkles that are red dots and holly. Consider making stripes, stars, or cover the entire frosted rice cake!

How to Make Rice Cake Ornaments: Ingredients

Put a dot of cream cheese on the large end of the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and use it as a “glue” to make an ornament topper.
