What Exactly IS a Smore?

A smore is a traditional campfire treat, that’s especially popular in North America. It consists of a thick piece of chocolate and large marshmallow, melted and sandwiched between two graham crackers. It is most commonly prepared and melted over a bonfire, which is why it has been popularized as THE ultimate campfire treat.

Why is it Called a “Smore?”

The smore can actually also be spelled as: “s’more” because it is a contraction of the phrase “some more.” It is believed that when scouts would eat this traditional campfire treat, they would always ask for “some more!” because it was so delicious.

The dessert has been found in cookbooks as early as 1920, but referred to as a “Graham Cracker Sandwich” instead.

How Long Does the Smores Cake Take to Cook in my Crockpot?

My Crockpot Smores Cake takes less than two hours to bake in the crockpot. The cake portion requires a baking time of one hour. Then, an additional twenty minutes of baking time is required to melt its delicious marshmallow and chocolate topping.

Be Sure to Use an Electric Mixer

The first step to making my Crockpot Smores is to whip-up the cake batter. I recommend using a stand electric mixer, but a hand mixer will work fine as well.

An electric mixer will ensure that all ingredients are well-combined, and that the sugar is properly dissolved.

Make Sure Your Crockpot Smores Don’t Stick

Don’t forget to spray the inside of your Crockpot with cooking oil spray! This will ensure that your smores cake doesn’t stick, and comes out easily from your slow cooker so that it is ready for serving!
