❤️Why You’ll Love This Recipe

Did you know you can bake banana bread in the air fryer? You totally can – even if you have a small air fryer that won’t fit a whole loaf pan. I’m going to teach you how with this easy and delicious tried and true recipe.

This quick bread recipe only uses one bowl and you don’t have to turn on your oven and heat the whole house. The best part? It only 10 minutes to mix up and put in the air fryer.

Now, let’s talk about the taste…

One word. AMAZING! I like it better than banana bread in the instant pot and I might like it better than banana bread in the oven. I think it’s a tie between classic banana bread and the banana bread in jars recipe I shared last year.

This recipe makes two delicious mini loaves of bread that are packed with banana flavor.

If you’re looking for more ways to use your air fryer, I recommend making 3-ingredient air fryer bagels or air fryer calzones. Both are delicious!

📋Ingredients

Two small foil loaf pans filled with banana bread batter with a list of ingredients written in the center of the photo.

To make air fryer banana bread you will need the following ingredients:

Bananas: Overripe bananas are best. However, you can also ripen your bananas in the oven if needed.

Brown Sugar: I used light brown sugar in this recipe. It adds a depth of flavor and sweetness that regular granulated sugar cannot achieve.

Sour Cream: This adds moisture to the bread while also making the crumb extra tender and soft.

📖 Ingredient Swaps

Greek yogurt: The sour cream can be swapped for plain Greek yogurt if needed. Sour cream is my preference, but it will work if that’s all you have.

Sugar: You can substitute the light brown sugar for dark brown sugar or granulated sugar.

Coconut Oil: The melted butter can be substituted for equal parts melted coconut oil.

Chocolate chips: This recipe makes plain banana bread. However, you can mix in chocolate chips if you have a chocolate craving. 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips works best.

Walnuts: As with the chocolate chips, walnuts are another great addition to mini banana bread. Simply mix in 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts before pouring the raw batter into the prepared mini loaf pans.

👩🏻‍🍳Expert Cooking Tips

Cooking Times

As with all air fryer recipes, cook times can vary with this banana bread air fryer recipe. The kind of air fryer you have, the temperature, and the humidity in your house all affect the overall results.

I have two different brands of basket-style air fryers and they cook at slightly different speeds. I do my best to give you the best possible instructions after testing a recipe.

I recommend checking your loaf of banana bread after 25 minutes. If it’s not done, check every few minutes. Once you’ve made this for the first time, you can note down how long it took you to cook your banana bread.

Using a larger loaf pan

If you have a slightly larger baking dish that fits inside your air fryer, that will work, too. Just make one large loaf. If it fits, you can use a regular loaf pan or a round cake pan.

Make sure to check your banana bread with a toothpick to make sure it’s fully cooked. You may need an additional 5-10 minutes to cook all the batter in one baking dish.

Store Bananas in the Freezer

One of my favorite hacks for banana bread is storing my overripe bananas in the freezer. That way, I’m not tied to the day my bananas are on their last leg.

I simply pop them in the freezer and use them whenever I get a craving for banana bread. I also use frozen bananas in smoothies (like this creamy orange smoothie).

💭Recipe FAQs

Can you reheat food in air fryer?

es, you can! You can reheat this banana bread the next day or any other kind of baked good in the air fryer. Just set it to 300 and heat until warmed to your liking. It’s quick and easy and won’t make your food soggy!

What size loaf pan is used?

I used two baby loaf pans for this recipe (size: 5 3/4″ x 3 1/4″ x 2″). I used the Hefty disposable mini baby loaf pans, but you can also purchase reusable ones on Amazon, as well.
